How Will the construction impact motorized construction?
In the north of the complex has posted no motor vehicles, Flood Control will require that we continue that. There will be access on the north side for maintenance vehicles for both Flood Control and City of Peoria.
Will equestrian access be allowed?
Yes, the trail will be a concrete path, but it will have a four-foot soft shoulder.
There is a neat bridge across the channel at Rio Vista. Can we get a bridge across skunk creek to the sports complex?
There is a pedestrian bridged plan for Phase II, that bridge will be situated at the confluence of skunk creek and the ACDC. That will have an under crossing of the 75th Avenue bridge and will connect to stadium trail on the north side and to the ACDC trail system on the east side of 75th Avenue.
What are the plans for vegetation or trees?
For Phase I there are no landscaping improvements. There are landscaping improvements in later phases of the project, we will be adding some landscaping in later phases of Stadium Trail.
Are the trails open 24/7 or are there gates to restrict access to certain times of usage?
At this time, we have no gates or access restrictions planned for the trail. Trails are open from sunrise till 10:30 PM. That is posted on the website, but there are no gates that close at the specific time.
Some transients moved in close to the 83rd Avenue bridge… living in a few tents, in the trees. When will they be removed?
The police department will come in early April to sweep the area and they must post a notification of 72 hours to vacate the area. The we will be making on of our Earth Day cleanup projects to clean up the debris and garbage left behind after the police departments has cleared the area of any hazardous materials.
Will there be additional signage (ex: right of way, people/bikes/dog walkers etc)?
Yes, we will have way-finding signage that has been included within this project. Then when the project is completed, we anticipated striping the path like on other pathway segments.
How far behind is Phase 2 to build a bridge across the Skunk Creek and ACDC confluence?
Phase II is currently in the Design Phase and construction will ideally begin in late 2023.
May I Suggest better maps of Peoria trails? I cannot decipher the map for Paloma park. So confusing.
It is an ongoing effort of ours to improve on our maps and make them more interactive. It is a work in progress.
Is there specified parking for the new trails?
There are not any new parking facilities planned for Phase I. There are some facilities that are currently planned for a later Phase.
This was probably very expensive, how much will this cost residents of Peoria?
Currently we have $2.7 million programmed for this project, of that, approximately $1,545,788 is Federal Funding.
